Application of the SQ3R Method to Improve Reading Comprehension Skills of Fourth Grade Elementary School Students in Takalar Regency

Abstract


This research is a classroom action research with the aim of finding out how the application of the SQ3R (Survey, Question, Read, Recite, Review) method to improve the reading comprehension skills of fourth grade students at SDN No. 211 Inpres Campagaya. The focus of this research is the application of the SQ3R method and reading skills. The subjects of this study were teachers and all fourth grade students of SDN No. 211 Inpres Campagaya Takalar Regency, totaling 18 students in the odd semester of the 2022 academic year. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, tests and documentation. The results of the research that were achieved in the first cycle of teacher teaching activities and student activities were in the sufficient category in the application of the SQ3R method and in the second cycle increased to a good category. In line with this, students' reading skills have increased. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the application of the SQ3R method to improving the speaking skills of fourth grade students at SDN No. 211 Inpres Campagaya, Takalar Regency has been successful.
