Launching The Maddoja Bine Tradition in Goarie Village, Soppeng District

Abstract

This study aims to find out how and what is the meaning of carrying out the maddoja bine tradition in Goarie Village, Soppeng Regency. The type of research used is descriptive. The research method used qualitative methods. The research design is descriptive. In this study, the main tool or instrument for data collection was the researcher himself by observing, asking, listening, requesting and retrieving research data. Data analysis techniques in this study Qualitative data analysis is carried out if the experience data obtained is qualitative data. The results of this study indicate that Maddoja Bine is an agricultural tradition that is often carried out by Bugis farmers as a form of appreciation to Sangiang Serri (the rice goddess according to the Bugis) or a rice seeding ceremony and it is believed that when the storyteller feels happy when telling it, it means it is a good indication of the harvest, and vice versa. In the process of the Maddoja bine tradition, the reading of a lontara letter or known as Massure` is carried out. This reading tradition has survived to this day and what is read is a letter in the form of a script or what is called the MeomPalo Karellae` script.
