Social Strata of Sayyid Descendants (Sayye') in society Cikoang Village, Takalar Regency

Abstract

Differences in levels in society result in the emergence of social strata in which there is a distinguishing system in society caused by different social classes between individuals in society. In the Cikoang community, Takalar Regency, there are community groups who are descendants of Sayyid Jalaluddin who is a cleric from Aceh who is descended from the Prophet Muhammad. The purpose of this study is to explain how the social strata of Sayyid's descendants are in the Cikoang community, Takalar Regency. The research method used is qualitative research with a descriptive approach. Primary data obtained through observation, interviews and documentation. Secondary data sourced from books and journals. The results of this study indicate that the social strata of the Sayyid descendant group is at a higher level than the ordinary people. This is because the Sayyid lineage group has an obsession to maintain its existence as a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad. So they assume that their group has a higher position.
