Abstract

The results showed that the interaction/involvement of teachers and students in online classes can be seen through three dimensions, namely behavioral engagement, emotional engagement, and cognitive engagement. The first dimension is behavioral engagement which focuses on student participation and student compliance. The second dimension is emotional engagement, which focuses on student interest in the teaching and learning process and student interest in doing schoolwork. The third dimension is Cognitive engagement which focuses on the willingness and attention of students to understand difficult lessons. The effect of academic interaction on students' speaking ability to participate in online classes in English lessons in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary and fluency is in the low category where most students have pronunciation problems, limited vocabulary, speech breaks and stops due to language limitations which in the end make them combine English with Language.
