The Effects of Motivation and Self -Concept on English Learning Achievement at Senior High School

Abstract


The objectives of the research were: (1). to identify the significant effects of motivation between the students’ English learning achievement’; (2). to identify the significant effects of self-concept between the students’ English learning achievement on SMA Negeri 1 Bantaeng. The method of this research was descriptive quantitative. This research used two instruments to get the data, questioner Motivation and Self-Concept. The subject of this research was the students’ of class X, XI, and XII at SMA Negeri 1 Bantaeng. This research used a simple random sampling technique. The sample of this research consisted of 30 out of 90 students as the total population every class took 10 students’ at random. To analyze the result of this research used SPSS ver. 23 application. There was not an effect for the motivation on English learning achievement based on the result of SPSS show (t value) < (t table). There was has an effect for the self-concept on English learning based on the result of SPSS show for the value of the sig.  < α. So this result shows there was a positive significance of the variable X2 and Y. Based on the analysis of the data it can be inferred that the high significant level occur in self-concept.
