The Obstacles Faced by EFL Teachers In E-Assessment of Students in Online Based Learning

Abstract


This research was conducted to find out what are the obstacles faced by English teachers in conducting e-assessment of students in the online-based learning process. In this research, a qualitative approach with descriptive method is used to describe the phenomena that are the focus of this research. The results of this research state that in conducting e-assessment of students, teachers face various obstacles, namely: (a) obstacles in using online applications/platforms such as internet stability, internet data availability, device availability, and less than optimal use of applications, (b) obstacles in online class management, where students tend to be inactive and not proactive in participating in assessment activities, delays, absences, and delays in collecting test results, (c) obstacles in supervisory of e-assessments, differences in space and distance make it difficult for teachers to supervise e-assessment process, so students can cheat in doing the tests given. Based on the results of the research findings above, it can be concluded that the three main obstacles faced by the teacher, greatly affect the quality and process of the e-assessment so that the e-assessment given can be said to be less effective and less objective
