Relationship betwen Students’ Perceptions of Teachers’ Pedagogical Competence and Students’ Interest in Learning at Primary Education

Abstract


This research uses the correlational method to determine the level and relationship between two or more variables without attempting to manipulate the variables. The purpose of this study was to determine a significant relationship between student's perceptions of the teacher's pedagogic competence and the students learning interest of elementary school. The independent variable consists of student's perceptions of the teacher's pedagogic competence, while the dependent variable is students' interest in learning. The data collection technique on these two variables used a questionnaire distributed to students in grades V and VI (43 people) as a sample with a simple random sampling technique, from the population of SD Inpres 5/81 Wanuawaru (147 people). The questionnaire had been tested before used for validity and reliability. The data analysis technique used after the assumption test is Pearson product-moment correlation. The research results found a significant relationship between students' perceptions of teacher pedagogical competence and student interest in learning at primary education with a weak positive correlation degree.
