The Implementation of Think-Pair Share Technique in Students’ English Writing

Abstract


This research aimed to know the students’ improvement in teaching English writing by implementing the Think Pair Share Technique and the students’ perception through the implementation of the Think Pair Share Technique in the classroom. The population in this research was the students’ class XI IPA1 as an experimental class and the students in class IPS 1 as a control class in SMA DDI Maros. The data of the research was obtained by the research pre-test and post-test. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 22. The result of the post-test shows the improvement after implementation of the Think Pair Share Technique after conducting the treatment implementation of the Think Pair Share in experimental class. It can be seen from the mean score of experiment class in pre-test was 54.53 becoming 60.47 in post-test. Meanwhile, the mean score of the control class in pre-test was 35.18 becoming 46.35 in post-test using conventional technique. It is compared with writing achievement result and students’ interest in attending the writing class there were 24.8% of students choose strongly agree, 55.3% choose to agree and 17.9% of students choose undecided by the implementation of the Think Pair Share Technique in English writing in the classroom.
