Abstract

The Indonesian government has been working to prevent and handle Covid-19 for almost the past year. One of the government's strategies in preventing Covid-19, such as calling on the public to comply with health protocols. Based on preliminary observations made at the Rappokaleleng Market, the call to adhere to health protocols when doing activities outside the home is still ignored by some people living around the Rappokaleleng market. In addition, it is known that traders and market visitors also lack understanding of the Covid-19 virus and its effects, so many of them do not use masks. In current conditions, public awareness of using masks needs to be emphasized as an effort to prevent Covid-19 transmission. Therefore, we carried out a movement to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 through socialization and distribution of masks at the Rappokaleleng market. The purpose of holding this activity is to prevent the transmission of Covid-19 in order to reduce the spread of the virus, especially in the Rappokaleleng market. The community work program was held on November 19, 2020, in the form of socializing the use of masks as well as distributing free masks to traders and visitors to the Rappokaleleng market. The method of implementation is through education to traders and market visitors to appeal to the importance of wearing masks. After socialization and distribution of masks, traders or visitors to the Rappokaleleng market have begun to realize the importance of using masks during the Covid-19 pandemic.
