Utilization of Radio Broadcasting Network as a Learning Source for Students in Coastal Area of Makassar

Abstract


The purpose of this study is to know how far the use of learning resources in the learning process of students SMPN 15 and SMAN 20 Makassar, and description of the use of radio auditive media as a learning resource for students SMPN 15 and SMAN 20 Makassar who follow the program Extracycular. This research uses qualitative descriptive approach with data collection technique through observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis technique in this research is data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed that teachers and students at SMPN 15 and SMAN 20 Makassar who are in coastal Makassar during this time using the source of learning books, environment and laboratory. In addition, the majority of students have android phones with easy access to information via the internet. Utilization of android during this make student visits to the library to decline. Nevertheless, the school gives a positive appreciation as the curriculum also encourages the use of all learning resources. Mass media can be an alternative source of learning, including radio. The use of radio to present educational programs is very important to improve students' learning motivation, because radio can be easily accessed through android and can be heard anywhere and anytime. One of the educational broadcast programs on radio is the Extra Curricular program broadcasted by Programa 2 RRI Makassar through FM 96,8 MHz frequency and streaming rriplay which can be downloaded through appstore app on all android phones. The motivation of students who develop their talents and interests through the program of Extra Curricular in school is increasing after always listening to the broadcast on every Saturday, at 13.00 - 14.00 Wita. Increased student motivation will go hand in hand with achievements that can be achieved.
