Abstract


This study aims to determine: 1) the average increase in HOTS for class VIII participants at SMPN 6 Makassar after implementing the Virtual Laboratory. 2) HOTS effect size after Virtual Laboratory implementation. 3) a significant increase in the average N-Gain score of HOTS students after implementing the Virtual Laboratory. 4) there is a difference in the average HOTS N-Gain score for class VIII B and VIII C of SSMPN 6 Makassar. This research is a pre-experimental design with the One Group Pretest-Posttts Design. The population of this study were all students of class VIII SMPN 6 Makassar consisting of 11 classes with a total of 371 students. Sampling was done using purposive sampling technique so that two sample classes were obtained, namely class VIII B and class VIII C with a total of 56 students. The research instrument was the HOTS test. Data analysis used descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The results of the analysis concluded that: 1) The average increase in HOTS for class VIII B and VIII C students at SMPN 6 Makassar after the virtual laboratory was implemented was 0.49 and 0.37 which were in the moderate category. 2) The results of the Effect Size analysis of students in class VIII B and VIII C after the virtual laboratory implementation of SMPN 6 Makassar students were 1.81 and 1.78 which were in the strong effect category. 3) There is a significant increase in the average N-Gain score for class VIII students of SMPN 6 Makassar after implementing the virtual laboratory. 4) There is no significant difference in the average N-Gain scores of students in class VIII B and class VIII C SMPN 6 Makassar.
