This research aims to determine: (1) The increase in science learning outcomes grade-VII students of MTs DDI Kanang who are taught using the role-playing method. (2) The increase in science learning outcomes grade-VII students of MTs DDI Kanang who are taught using the lecture method. (3) The effect of role-playing method on the science learning outcomes grade-VII students of MTs DDI Kanang compared to grade-VII students of MTs DDI Kanang using conventional learning methods. This type of research is Quasi Experimental using the Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population is the all students grade-VII of MTs DDI Kanang. Sampling was carried out using Purposive Sampling technique and obtained class VII.1 as an experimental class and VII.3 as a control class. The research instrument used is a multiple-choice learning outcomes test totaling 25 items. The data collection technique in this research is the administration of Pretest and Posttest. Data analysis using descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Descriptive analysis to determine the statistical results on the average score of learning outcomes. The results of descriptive analysis of the improvement of student learning outcomes in the experimental class obtained average N-Gain score of 0.65 in the moderate category and in the control class, 0.31 in the moderate category. The results of inferential analysis obtained using the t-test show that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, so it can be concluded that the role-playing method has an effect on improving the learning outcomes of grade-VII students of MTs DDI Kanang on material classification and its changes.
