Abstract


The purpose of this paper is to examine the effectiveness of using underwater lamps to capture squid by fishermen in Barrang Caddi island and the potential for developing underwater lighting technology. The implement- tation method used in this activity is mentoring, training, demonstration. The underwater lamp that have been trained have met the standards and passed the feasibility test and then held training activities to increase the knowledge and skills of the fishing group of Barrang Caddi Island. The results of this activity show that the knowledge of fishermen has increased which previously only knew the conventional way of capturing squid and then changed by relying on underwater lamp technology. The results of using underwater lamps also have an impact on increasing squid catch up to 120% per mont. The results of this activity contributed positively to the group of fishermen in the island of Barrang Caddi.
