Abstract


Observations in various elementary schools both in
the district and in the city of Makassar, especially in Cluster
IV in Makassar district, the teachers in teaching were use
limited learning media which resulted in students being less
critical, creative and active. This causes students to be slow in
reading and writing. The subject of this study is the primary
school teachers in Cluster IV of KKG Makassar district in
Makassar. The purpose of this community service activity in
general is to increase teachers' knowledge and skills in making
literacy media that can create a critical, creative, and active
learning atmosphere. Specifically, this program aims (1) to
find out how far the teacher's ability to make literacy media
can be used in reading and writing learning for students (first,
second, and third grade); (2) to find out the opinion of the
teachers about making literacy media in reading and writing
for students. The activities that have been carried out have
shown maximum results. The Big Book media making training
provides advantages, especially in literacy learning, namely
reading and writing.
