Abstract

This PKM program is a mathematics training based
on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME). This training
program aims to introduce the concept of number
stairs/ribbons in teaching the counting operations of integers.
The information given in this program included the provision
of materials and workshops. The materials provided were the
introduction of Realistic Mathematics Education, the
development of Realistic Mathematics Education in Indonesia,
and the introduction of the context of number stairs/ribbons in
integer count operations. Participants in this training were
elementary teachers in Bone Regency. This training was
conducted so that the participants can understand and develop
various types of context in teaching different mathematical
concepts for students. The method used was in the form of
training, consisting of material giving and an independent
work. The result shows that the teacher experienced
difficulties related to learning mathematics in the classroom,
both in terms of pedagogic and conceptual aspects. In addition,
the teacher also provided various descriptions of the
difficulties that students face when teaching count number
operations.
