Pelatihan parenting berbasis literasi bagi masyarakat Pesisir Kepulauan

Abstract

Socio-economic problems among rural communities
in coastal and archipelagic areas appear to be more complex.
Although the phenomenon of poverty, underdevelopment has
begun invisible, but the conditions of ignorance show more
significance among rural communities on the islands. The
purpose of this activity is to support young mothers who have
children under five years old able to hold literacy-based
parenting to their family members, especially to their children.
Some of the activities carried out to achieve these objectives
covers 1) increasing their knowledge in conducting literacybased
parenting, and 2) improving their skills in reading
stories with their children as bonding time. The results showed
that 1) the rise of parents/ especially mothers awareness in
bonding with their children through reading together activities,
2) children begins to love books and closeness to their parents,
and 3) the implementation of literacy-based parenting
activities in the coastal areas of the islands on Saugi Island is
in the excellent category which is viewed from the enthusiasm
of participants and their ability in reading stories for their
children.
