Abstract

Emotional Intelligence and Functional Motoric Ability in Football Games on UNM FIK Students. This research is a descriptive survey research which aims to determine the contribution of emotional intelligence to functional motor skills in the soccer game of FIK UNM students. The study was conducted from June to September 2017 involving 40 samples and was carried out on the FIK sports campus. Emotional intelligence was measured by using a questionnaire from Setiawan Kusnan consisting of five assessment domains including aspects of recognizing one's own emotions, managing emotions, motivating oneself, recognizing the emotions of others and building relationships. Each domain is measured by several indicators. Football skills are assessed by using a dribbling test that measures the ability of the sample to dribble as quickly as possible through all predetermined obstacles and is grouped into five skill level categories. Statistical analysis of the collected data was carried out using the Pearson correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship (p value <0.05) between emotional intelligence in dribbling skills, where the aspects of emotional intelligence in recognizing the emotions of others and building relationships gave more meaningful influence than the other three aspects.
