Abstract


Abstract.The purpose of the study was to determine the role of compensation in improving employee performance and to determine the role of compensation for employee performance with work motivation as an intervening variable. A good employee performance will increase the maximum profit for the company and thus increase economic growth in the Takalar area. The analytical tool used is multiple linear regression. The conclusion of the research on the effect of compensation on work motivation and its implications on the performance of PTP Nusantara XIV employees Takalara Sugar is as follows: 1) Compensation has a positive and significant effect on performance, by giving compensation that is more appropriate and accepted by employees because it is in accordance with the power and ability issued and appreciate the hard work of employees, then employees will be more professional by working seriously and making various efforts so that they can achieve better work results so that their performance can be improved. 2) Compensation has an indirect effect on performance through work motivation, so it can be concluded that work motivation becomes a variable that mediates compensation between employee performance. This shows that there is a sense of satisfaction with the compensation provided in the form of salary, bonus benefits and various adequate facilities will foster high motivation at work, because the employees feel valued and supported at work.
