Abstract

Abstract: The purpose of this research is to know the characteristics of plants, the amount of biomass production and the physical and chemical properties of the soil on the oil palm land planted with LCC Calopogonium mucunoides Desv. on palm land of PT. Mega Utama Tani in Konawe District of Southeast Sulawesi. The study was conducted by observation. Data were analyzed by descriptive method. Plant Characteristics Calopogonium mucunoides Desv. rooted fibers, root depth of 17-25 cm . Round stem, thickness 2-4 cm. 5.3 cm leaf width, leaf stalk length 1.8 cm and leaf surface length of 4.7-8 cm, leaf thickness of 0.2-2 cm. The highest biomass production on stem (52.08 g) and lowest at root (31, 4 g). Characteristics of soil with LCC had higher clay texture (96.74%), pH 6.0, high N, P, K and C-organic content and soil characteristics without LCC sand and high dust texture (2.68% and 1, 65%), pH 5.3, low N, P and K and C-Organic levels. High biomass production will correlate to nutrient returns to the soil in improving soil fertility.

Keywords: biomass, lcc, calopogonium mucunoides Desv.
