Abstract


Abstract: This study aims to identify / identify the type of weed seafater Kappaphycus Alvarezii seaweed cultivated on the island of Tarakan, North Kalimantan. This research is descriptive explorative with field survey method and interview technique to fisherman and seaweed farmer. This research was conducted in the waters around the Amal Coastal Urban District of Tarakan Timur, Tarakan City, Tarakan Island, North Kalimantan Province. The study was conducted from December 2017 to February 2018, taking sampling points of three locations: RT 4, RT 6, RT 14 which is representative of the research site. The tools used in the research are: stationery, key book determination and camera. Each location was randomly sampled 20 stretches of seaweed being cultivated.Four types of weeds are Turbinaria Sp, Sargassum sp, Gracilaria sp and silk lichen (Chaetomorpha sp). These four types of weeds spread in all study sites with varying amounts, except Gracillariasp found only in RT4 sites. In RT4 sites the highest number found was silk lichen with an average of 50 tallus contrasts, following Sargassum sp 5 tallus and Turbinaria sp 4 tallus and Gracilaria sp 3 tallus, as well as at location RT 6 is also dominated by silk moss with an average intensity of 40 tallus per stretch, following Sargassum sp with an average intensity of 6 contradicts and Turbinaria sp with an average intensity of 3 tallus contrasts. In location RT 14 is still dominated by silk moss with an average intensity of 5 tallus contrasts following Sargasum sp averaging 3 tallus and Turbinaria sp on average 2 tallus found on every stretch
