Abstract


Abstract: The aim of this research was determining the effect of Problem Based Learning model on increase students’ critical thinking skills at class X IPA in SMA Negeri 1 Mamasa. The sample in this research were students of class X IPA 3 as control class and class X IPA 5 as experimental class that obtained by using simple random sampling technique. This research used a quasi-experimental research with used design pretest-posttest control group design. Critical thinking skills are measured by using essay tests on environmental change. The collected data were analyzed in descriptive statistics and inferential statistics with anacova.The results showed that (1) students’ critical thinking skill that taught by Direct Instruction model was at less category; (2) students’ critical thinking skills that taught by Problem Based Learning model at enough category;(3) there is effect of Problem Based Learning model on students’ critical thinking skill with significance value was 0.00.
