Abstract


Abstract: The XXI century is a century known as the knowledge-based economic era that demands a new paradigm in pedagogy. In this century, it is necessary to design an environment and process of active learning, collaboration, self regulated, and self directed learning. One of the learning strategies that can prepare students is a problem based learning (PBL). PBL learning is characterized by ill-structured problems that require various alternative solutions. Students can find various alternative solutions if students have critical thinking skills. PBL is one of the learning strategies that can empower critical thinking skills that include interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation.
