Abstract


Abstrak. The quality of education can be seen from the success of students in the learning process in the classroom, this is certainly influenced by several factors such as one of the teaching methods used by teachers. The selection of methods used by teachers in teaching is very important to support student success, especially in increasing stimulating and increasing students' critical thinking skills. The purpose of this study is to: (i) to find out the critical thinking skills of students who are taught using the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) learning model; (ii) to find out the critical thinking skills of students who are taught using the Guided Inquiry (GI) learning model; (iii) to determine differences in students' critical thinking skills taught using the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) and Guided Inquiry (GI) learning models. This research is a quasi-experimental study. The population in this study were all students of SMAN 101 Jakarta in the 2016/2017 school year. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, with the research sample was class XI MIA 1 with 31 students as the POGIL experimental class and class XI MIA 2 with 31 students as the GI experimental class. Data collection techniques using the test results of students' critical thinking skills. Data analysis technique uses independent sample t-test with SPSS version 22.0 for windows. The results showed that (i) students' critical thinking skills taught using the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) learning model were included in both categories (71.51%); (ii) students' critical thinking skills learned using the Guided Inquiry (GI), learning model are included in the good category (62.20%); (iii) there is a significant difference in students' critical thinking skills between students who are taught using the Process Oriented Guided Inquiry Learning (POGIL) and Guided Inquiry (GI) learning models.
