Abstract

Plastic waste is still a serious issue to environment and therefore several solutions are required to overcome it and one of them be subtituting plastic raw materials with environmet-friendly bioplastics. This research aims at finding replacement of plastic's basic constructing components (elements) with non-pollutant biodegradable plastics. One of basic composition materials from which plastics are produced is keratine and is mostly contained by humans hair. The method applied is socletative extraction which is the repetitive use of a solution. The solutions used are aseton, asetat acid, ethanol and n-hexane. Based on the research it is found that the highest rendement is the solution of ethanol with 98,84% of yield. The result of FTIR analysis indicates a chain of function of -OH, -NH, -CH2, and -CH3 with length of wave of 3568,31 ; 1653 ; 1028,06 ; 372,26 cm-1 indicating a keratine- contained extraction.
