PERAN HELICOPTER PARENTING DALAM MENINGKATKAN SELF EFFICACY MAHASISWA UNIVERSITAS SURABAYA

Abstract


Abstrak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui hubungan antara helicopter parenting dan self efficacy pada  mahasiswa Universitas Surabaya (Ubaya). Jumlah partisipan adalah 221 mahasiswa aktif Universitas Surabaya berusia 18-25 tahun, belajar dari rumah, dan masih memiliki ayah atau ibu. Pengumpulan data menggunakan alat ukur College Academic Self Efficacy Scale (CASES) dan Helicopter Parenting Index (HPI). Hipotesis penelitian diuji menggunakan analisis korelasi Pearson. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara helicopter parenting dengan self efficacy pada mahasiswa Universitas Surabaya (r = 0.195, p = 0.03 < 0.05). Semakin tinggi skor helicopter parenting, semakin tinggi skor self-efficacy mahasiswa. Helicopter parenting, dipandang  oleh mahasiswa yang berada dalam budaya Asia,  sebagai dukungan yang dapat menyebabkan dirinya menjadi lebih yakin dalam menyelesaikan masalah akademiknya.
