Abstract
The church, founded by God through Jesus Christ, is a diverse community of believers who worship, study, practice holiness, and reach out to others. However, there is a gender disparity in pastoral leadership among the churches in the Sapele Baptist Association (SaBA). This study aims to examine the extent, cause, and effect of this gender disparity in pastoral leadership among churches in the Sapele Baptist Association. Historical and phenomenological methods were employed to conduct the study, focusing on the extent of recognition of female pastoral leadership, factors contributing to the under-representation of female pastors, and the impact on the Baptist church structure. The research population includes pastors, elders, deacons, and church members. The study recommends that Baptist churches re-examine their pastoral policies and ensure equal recognition and expression of diverse gifts among men and women.
