Abstract


The purpose of this research is to enhance students' critical thinking and communication skills in science subjects by using the Problem Based Learning model integrated with the Gallery Walk method, which encourages students to express opinions, ask critical questions, and confidently perform in public. This study is a classroom action research with the research subjects being 16 seventh-grade students in the odd semester of the 2020/2021 academic year. Data collection was carried out using observation and LKPD assignments. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The research was conducted over two cycles of classroom action research. The results showed improvements in each cycle. In Cycle I, the percentage of critical thinking skills was 12.5%, which increased to 62.5% in Cycle II. Similarly, communication skills experienced a significant improvement, rising from 20% in Cycle I to 100% in Cycle II. Based on these results, it can be concluded that the implementation of the Problem Based Learning model can improve critical thinking and communication skills of students at SMPN 4 Satu Atap Salatiga.
