Penerapan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Kognitif, Keterampilan, dan Sikap Siswa di SMPN 35 Batam

Abstract


Most of learning method currently used in school is one way lecture method called as expository. The weaknesses of this method are the student will get bored easily and not active in the learning process which could led into low evaluation score level. Thus, application of other learning method is required to increase student-teacher interaction during learning process in order to enhance student’s understanding and will impact to evaluation score. In this research, Problem Based Learning will be implemented during learning process. The objective of this research is to study the level of understanding of the student during learning process with problem based learning method. Observation method was used to collect data including attitude score and skill score. Meanwhile, evaluation test was used to measure the cognitive score at respected topic at the end of learning process. This research also use a set of lesson plan to plan the learning process. The result of this research is the use Problem based learning could increase cognitive score, skill aspect and attitude aspect and was monitored start from cycle 1, cycle 2 and cycle 3. Average cognitive score was increased at 56.5 during cycle 1, 66 at cycle 2 and 68.5 at cycle 3. Average score of Skill aspect was also increased at 71.0 during cycle 1, 75.0 at cycle 2 and 79.2 at cycle 3. Attitude aspect was also following the trend at 61.7 during cycle 1, 69.2 at cycle 2 and 72.5 at cycle 3. Based on previous research results, we can conclude that the use of Problem Based Learning method was effective to enhance the students understanding and increase the score of skill aspect, attitude aspect, and cognitive aspect.
