Pengaruh Strategi Pembelajaran Socio-Scientific Issues (SSI) terhadap Kemampuan Literasi Sains Peserta Didik Kelas VIII SMP Negeri 4 Sungguminasa

Abstract


This study aims to find out 1) the improvement of science literacy skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungguminasa who are taught using the Socio-Scientific Issues learning strategy, 2) the science literacy skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungguminasa taught using conventional learning strategies, 3) the effect size category score of the use of Socio-Scientific Issues in learning on the science literacy skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungguminasa, and 4) whether there is a difference in the average score of science literacy skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungguminasa taught using Socio-Scientific Issues learning strategy and those taught using conventional learning strategies. This type of research is a Quasi Experimental Design research with a Nonequivalent Control Group design. The population of all grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungguminasa, for the 2022/2023 academic year consisting of 11 classes with a total of 396 students, the sample was selected by purposive sampling, with 2 classes, namely the experimental class (VIII B) totaling 27 people and the control class (VIII E) totaling 26 people. The research instrument used was a science literacy test question. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. The results of the analysis concluded that there are differences in the science literacy skills of students taught with Socio-Scientific Issues learning strategies and those taught with conventional learning strategies, which means that Socio-Scientific Issues learning strategies affects the science literacy skills of grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 4 Sungguminasa.
