Abstract


This research aims to find out : 1) Improvement of science literacy skills of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Makassar after being taught with multiple representation learning model 2) Improvement of science literacy of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Makassar after being taught with direct learning model 3) Whether there was an effect of using multiple representation learning model on science literacy skills of VIII grade students of SMP Negeri 13 Makassar. This research was a quasi-experiment research with the research design of Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population of this study were all students of class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Makassar as many as 11 classes with a total of 452 students. Sampling through purposive sampling technique so that VIII E is obtained as an experimental class with 29 students and VIII B class as a control class with 29 students. Research results : 1) The science literacy skills of students taught using the multiple representation learning model had increased with an average N-Gain score of 0.43 in the medium category. 2) The science literacy ability of students taught using the direct learning model increased with an average N-Gain score of 0.33 in the medium category. 3) There was an effect of multiple representation learning model on improving the science literacy of students in class VIII SMP Negeri 13 Makassar.
