Abstract

The purpose of this study is to find out the MSME Empowerment Strategy in Makassar City. The problems faced by business actors are that there are many empowerment programs implemented but no follow-up has been carried out after the training, the lack of information related to empowerment activities, and the capital programs carried out are not socialized evenly. Academically, research results must develop theories related to community empowerment. From the results of this study, it is hoped that it can contribute thoughts and discourses to the Makassar City government in empowering MSMEs. The type of research used is descriptive and uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques carried out by observation, interviews and documentation. The data analysis technique used consisted of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the data analysis and discussion that have been described show the five aspects that are used as a measure in analyzing the MSME Empowerment Strategy at the Makassar City Cooperatives and SMEs Service which for enabling indicators (possibility) the results are not good, empowering indicators (reinforcement) the results are not good, protecting indicators (protection) the results are not good, the indicators supporting the results are not very good and the indicators fostering the results are not good. From the five indicators as a whole, it is concluded that the MSME Empowerment Strategy at the Makassar City Cooperatives and SMEs Service is considered not running optimally or not running well. The results of the research that are shown are not optimal or not good because communication between the government and business actors is very lacking and several obstacles such as capital and knowledge problems also greatly affect empowerment to run not optimally.
