Abstract


Abstract:  The aim of study is to know the difference of motivation and retention class X through the implementation of learning strategy overlearning and retrieval practice in SMA Negeri 3 Makassar. The study was a quasi-experimental research with population is all students in class X of SMA 3 Makassar academic year 2017/2018 (consists of 6 study groups). Through simple random sampling technique, sample in this research is class X. Mia 6 as experiment class 1 thought with learning strategy overlearning and class X. Mia 5 as experiment class 2 thought with learning strategy retrieval practice. The experiment data was obtained through questionnaires on pretest and posttest activities for student motivation data and student retention data was obtained by learning outcomes on posttest and delay test. The collected data was analyzed statistically descriptive and inferential statistics using an anacova test with significance level of 0.05. Conclusion of this research was there are differences of motivation and retention between students who study with learning strategies of overlearning and retrieval practice
