Abstract


Abstract: Local wisdom in managing mangrove forest resources determining sustainability mangrove forest resources. This study aims to describe the local wisdom of the people the eastern coast South Sulawesi in managing the mangrove forest resources. Sampling technique is Purposive Sampling, that is only residents who have lived around the forest area of mangrove at least 5 (five) years, community leaders and local government. Data collection techniques conducted by means observation and in-depth interviews. The results obtained consisting of aspects ideas, values and norms. Ideas, ie catch fish, shrimp, crabs using nets traps and traps use cages in crab enlargement plant mangroves and provide a protective fence in particular adjacent to the settlement mangrove planting periodically develop mangrove nursery reporting to the village office before spinning mangroves selective logging and embroidering, not catching crabs laying eggs. While the value aspect, that is to make awareness about the danger of mangrove logging, with familial approach determine zone-zone as conservation area. The norm aspect of logging indiscriminately without reporting to the village office will be fined ie if one tree is cut then it should plant ten trees.
