Abstract

Abstract: The field of agriculture which is currently rapid development in Indonesia is an ornamental plant. Orchid is an ornamental plant that has economic value with various forms, colors and fragrances. Orchid seed cultured in vitro on suitable media will produce orchid seedlings in large numbers but in short time. The purpose of this study was to determine the growth phase of orchid embryo and to determine an effective concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) that influence the growth and development of orchid embryo Vanda limbata Blume x Vanda tricolor Lindl. To determine the embryonic phase is done by sowing of orchid embryo on VW medium which added coconut water 150 ml/L. The growth phase observation was conducted for 2 months. Explant that was used is embryo phase 5 which is planted in treatment medium. The treatment medium used was POC Fertile, medium with various concentrations (1, 1, 2, 2.5, 3, 3.5 ml / L) added coconut water 150 ml / L. VW and Agar media were used as controls. Each treatment consisted of 3 replications. Parameters were observed in 2 months for morphological characters (number and length of root; number and length of leaves, and number of shoots). Quantitative data were analyzed with Analyze of Variance (ANOVA) a statistical test using Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at 5%. The results showed that the orchid embryo In phase 5 treatment of POC Fertile 2 gave a significantly different effect on leaf length and root length with values of 3861.6 and 16.897.
